About Katie Lazo
Katie Lazo is an artist, writer, and educator based in Southern California whose work spans animation, comics, and independent storytelling. Her work often explores character-driven narratives and atmospheric storytelling, with occasional forays into elevated horror aesthetics.
She has worked professionally in the animation industry for over a decade and is a member of the animation union, contributing to productions with studios including Warner Bros., Titmouse, and ShadowMachine. She has also collaborated with Webtoon as a storyboard artist for vertical-format comics.
In addition to her studio work, Katie creates original projects across comics, tarot, and film. Her personal work blends illustration, comics, and cinematic storytelling to create immersive narrative worlds through visual storytelling and cinematic composition. She regularly shares the development of these projects through her social media platforms and mailing list, where she documents her creative process and upcoming releases.
Katie currently teaches as an adjunct professor at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, where she works with emerging artists in illustration, animation, and visual storytelling.
Outside of the studio and classroom, Katie enjoys hiking Southern California’s parks with her very large puppy and her partner. In the evenings, they unwind with horror movies and spooky video games.
